Ok, so I have seen some stuff about donating here and I even gave a buck or two to help out the community but then I started to thing... Shouldn't MMowned give more gifts to donators, or add a new idea to get more!?!
Well get this! MMowned get's a new Auction House on the site where you can but WoW items (you don't get in the game) with points (MM Tokens) earned by donating. Once a person buys an item it appears in a bag beside there name in posts, or players can check out their inventory! So what Im thinking is you start with like 6 slot bag, can buy some Items for it and also buy more bags for more storage.
Here are some items that would be a MUST HAVE in the MMowned Auctionhouse:
WoW Items:
6-14 slot bags
All Mounts
Tier 1-6
Superior Health Potion
Scroll of Intellect
Krol Blade
Various Potions
Holiday Items
Some pets (Mechanical squiral,Snake,ECT.)
All the Masks!
Stupid Funny Stuff:
PsP
Computer
Ipod
Mac Computer
Now, for MORE details!
Ok, a MMowned user donated, and the amount they donate... They get MM Tokens. They can save up until they have the amount an item costs that they want. Then they can purchase it to there Bag from the AuctionHouse section of the site. Once the item is purchased, It will be able to be viewed by the donator, and other users of MMowned.com.
I think this Idea is pretty cool! I have seen it at another forum but it is a bit different. If you have ANY questions or IDEAS about this PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POST!!!!

We had this once before, it kind of failed, the whole point was to spread it. but as there was basically none of it, and no-one did the surveys/whatever we ran out.
Looks like a well thought out idea, even if it is poorly presented

We used to have this except instead of having virtual laptops we had rufies.
And Contributer tokens.
It failed miserably.

What I was originally trying to do was create a currency on the site that was based off money received in donations so in turn I could give out prizes and paypal cash and ingame gold in exchange for site tokens.. unfortunately every donator kept their tokens and very few tokens were given out, only 2 people collected enough coins in the 4 months running it to actually cash out $5 or 50 gold |

Or... We could get some very good with HTML, Java, flash, or another web programming language, and make a little game for the site.
And, it will be so you can pay for some little boosts in it.
It could be like MMOwneds crappy WoW! ><
Meh, the donator items idea is good I guess, but as stated before, most likely will never get popular enough.

Alot of forums have something given for every post you do, or for every thread you make or something, but i guess alot of noobs to the forum would see something they want and spam to get it (like PM privlages).
Of course, this is totally biased from me saying it, so disregard it if you want  |

turn rep to currency....make it spendable...then have a ah....this would get alot of the rep in circulation and then offer weekly or monthly special prizes...and allow the winner to be able to later host it up on the ah in exchange for rep....something like that might work...since donors donate money give them rep based off of there donation instead of the uggly orange banner...oh well i dunno...just an idea...probably stupid but it makes for a fun lil game of who has the most crap....even have a lil detail on the item that says "i was dumb enough to spend XXX amount of rep on this virtual pos" |
