I suggest adding a period of time which prevents a post from gaining rep. This would be used for example when a leecher(or anyone) posts an exploit. This would prevent them from gaining rep for a small period of time, this allows the thread to be deleted if it is indeed an exploit.
This prevents leechers and others from getting repped from reposts. |

We simply have too many leechers that "try" to achieve Contrib status, but then realize, "omg 80?!?!" and give up.

But adding a time before rep can be added prevents them from gaining rep from a repost. Assuming reposts are handled in a timely manner. This just helps mods by giving them a little less to worry about. |

IF he truly deserves the rep he can have it, just an hour later.
Edit: Or a compromise to this would be have rep itself on a delay. If the thread is removed from where the rep was added the rep doesn't get added. This would NOT be retroactive in any way. If a thread is locked/deleted in 2 days and someone had already sent you rep previously once it is added it is irreversible. Now I know this could be scripted.

Reputation: 261 Level up: 16%, 759 Points needed | | | | aka .. if its a repost and the OP gets rep its usually REMOVED. if its a quick exploit that in 3 hours gets locked due to it being hotfixed and he gets rep .. well guess what HE DESERVES IT. if its a repost its under clause 1. system is fine as it is.. simply called please add a line.. note remove rep gained from this thread; when reporting if indeed the op got rep. |

Yes things do get hotfixed but ppl still rep for exploits that don't work anymore as long as it DID work for the period of time before it got patched/hotfixed. It may be difficult to integrate though, given the few options with vBulletin
