Search Spamming
KuRIoS said that reducing the limit would make spammers and bots abuse the search and cause major problems... Well I've come to a solution!

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

A search Q and A, simple questions anyone in their right mind could do.

EX.

"How many ears does an average human have?"

Answer: 2

I think this could be the way to reduce the search cooldown without having spammers.

Not saying do away with the timer just reduce it to 20 seconds.

To be honest, I think there is no problem with the timer. It's not like you feel like spamming a message every 1 sec anyway. But bots and other software can be annoying.

Well to be honst, I think it should be a little shorter than 45 seconds....

But hey, the mods know best, so maybe it IS the best time limit for beating bots...

i think its connected with another timer i dunno. (which means if you change that you will change the other timer too)
But yeah its pretty annoying (just like the report timer)

It's quite annoying when you don't find anything on a search, but you know something else you could try that might throw up a result (and does -.-) yet can't search it. Something to stop spam searching would be good, but I don't think it would be smart to lower the timer without another measure.

This has been discussed before.
But, I feel that lowering the timer (maybe lower as you rank up, an extra incentive for ranks like Donator) is a good idea.
However, you would need to implement perhaps a 'Captcha' or some other Anti-bot security check - which no one would mind - and still stop all of the bots.

Well I would mind if you had to enter a captcha EVERY search, but I wouldnt mind if it was once in a while...

Well, I think the search should have captcha. I don't mind doing a little puzzle that takes like 3 seconds rather than wait 40 seconds or whatever.

45 seconds does seem way too long, especially when most of the searches you do will give you 10 pages of things, so usually you do multiple searches to refine it down a bit...
