I get an error whenever I try to start the game and go to my character with changed looks.

Its a troll female and no patches work at all.

last time I used this was before some major patch, when I patched it made me re-install WoW, will this happen again if I use these?

Before you update with a new patch you must take the MPQ's out of your data folder, otherwise it will merge them with the normal WoW MPQs and will cause your data to be corrupt, forcing you to reinstall WoW.
