Ok guys, i had one of these up before, but were putting another updated one up.
What is a Model Editing Specialist?
Model Editing Specialists are the 'elite' of the ME forums. They are incredibly skilled, their knowledge is intended to be much greater than the general populace. MES (short for Model Editing Specialists) are leaders in the ME forums, and they have demonstrated a great amount of influence and contribution in the model editing forum. These are the people who will often answer questions, help you with your problems, answer requests (i dont, but thats my ethics. Im a teacher, and teachers dont do your homework for you, but they gladly answer your questions), and release edits that many will love and enjoy. They can be identified by the tag Model Editing Expert under their name.
What can Model Editing Specialists Help with?
There is a variety of things that MES can help with. Model editors will answer questions, if you need someone maybe to review your mpqs, or maybe a request. If you have a question on how to do something, they will either refer you to a post or guide that will give you the information you need, or answer the question themself. MES are here to help and guide you into becoming better editors. Please note, NEVER, EVER, PM A MES ABOUT A REQUEST unless they say its ok. In my signature, it says not to, and im going to see to it that you get reported, and delt with. The request section is there for a good reason, use it. Pms about questions are more than ok, but no requests.
How to become a Model Editing Specialist?
A model editing specaialist is someone who does most or all of the following: who answer the questions, fill the request, who make our repacks, who organize collections, write guides, makes mpqs, fixs peoples errors, and make things better for every1
They should also have a large amount of experience model editing, do dbc, at least basic ones, such as 1blp-->3 blp. They also should be a contributor (or close to) or higher. Not to say that because they are a contibutor they are more talented or experienced, but a contributor shows they are active in forums, and they are respeceted alltogether. The person should not only be a contibutor, but has contiburted in the model editing section. (When i say contributor, i mean someone who has contributed, not necessarily a contributor in rank, though many a time, they are more 'respected')
They should know all of the following:
-.m2 swaps
-.blp swaps
-multiple blp swaps
-cache edits
-.dbc
-.wmo swaps
-.wmo movement
-.adt edits (water levels, height levels, etc) and basic knowledge of their construction.
NOTE: if you do not know all of these, DONT BOTHER SENDING AN REQUEST. I get requests all the time from people who have very little skill, but think cause they did a mount swap, they are gods. Also, i know some of these arnt on the forums, and thats for a good reason. Its very complitcated stuff, that can be easily exploited, and those that understand how to do it, appreticate that, and dont let it leak out. You can figure out how to do these things on your own, many, many people have.
