Help with next steps

So I have the basics of finding data like health/mana in C#... But when I see lists of hex values next to methods on mmowned such as "4A0C80 -> GetZoneText" how does one actually utilize these methods?

I am using IDA Pro to attempt to find these methods on my own but I am not having much luck and the guide I am using (from the mmoglider forums) is either outdated or missing a step or I am just messing things up.

Do I call the internal methods of retrieving data as if it were an API of sorts? If so, what ways do other developers use to call said methods?

Let me try a different approach as I don't think I am conveying my thoughts correctly...

1) I open wow.exe with IDA Pro as a binary 32-bit file...
2) It takes a while to go through it.
3) I use Shift+F12 to get the String Window.
4) I search for GetZoneText
5) It takes me to "seg000:005B3164"

Now is where the guide I followed on the MMOGlider forums differs. I don't see anything about "aGetzonetext db 'GetZoneText',0" or any DATA XFER stuff... What step(s) am I missing to get to the correct zone text data?

I am using this to pull the data but obviously I have not found the correct offset:
String zoneText = wow.ReadASCIIString(wow.ReadUInt(this.playerBase + 0x4A0C80), 40);

Go Wow memory editing section and read it, you'll found how to use this kind of stuff...

My problem isn't with the memory reading part... I am able to pull XYZR/HP/MP fine. It's finding the correct thing within IDA and applying it in C#.

Seriously though, the Memory Editing section covers this more then the general C# forum.

If you can already find the offsets to read them, then I guess I'm not really seeing what your question is. This is sort of a chicken or the egg type situation.

Don't you typically use IDA to find offsets before you read them?
