Hello, I'd like to make a list of ways people have tried (that have failed) to change their Character model, to make it abit easier and everyone doesn't try the same thing 100x

Ways Tried
Just putting the old file there (By Axros)
Changing the names in 'signaturefile' from 'BloodElf' to 'SCOURGE' ETC*. (By Axros)
Changing the names in 'signaturefile' from 'SCOURGE' to 'BloodElf' ETC. (By Axros)
Changing the names in 'signaturefile' from 'SCOURGE' to 'BloodElf' and 'BloodElf' to 'SCOURGE' ETC. (By Axros)
Completly remaking the 'patch' file but leave 'signaturefile' out of it (By Axros)


* ETC meaning as BloodElf to Scourge, BloodElfFemale to ScourgeFemale and such, the whole deal you'd normally do


Anyone has any idea's to try further or attempts that failed to add?

Or just someone that knows how to solve it so I can abandon this list

What Works

I created a program that will do it for you for people who really want to model change.

it can be downloaded here:

For developers/people interested in the source code it can be download here (it is very small 10-12 lines)

Usage:
Simply Put the exe inside your World of Warcraft directory
Run WoWModelChange.exe instead of WoW.exe
Model Change will work (Assuming you have a custom MPQ)
At the character selection screen press the 'END' Key this will remove what the exe has done (model change will still be working ingame)

no editing of signaturefile needed.

I can't guarantee you won't be banned i have no idea if warden could pick this up. use at your own risk

It is still loading WoW for me but i am unable to login due to an error with the new patch -.- silly blizzard.

The Program basically runs WoW.exe and edits memory, after you press end at the char screen (Basically after the .m2 file has been loaded) it re edits the memory.

has it worked for other people?

and is wow directory the place were the data folder is or do i put this in my data folder and do i have to what like rename this file .exe AND this end key thing i dont get and im sure everybody else who is noob is asking these questions to.

the link on the 2nd page works for some people is what there saying but i dont get this wow directory if sombody could tell me what that is i think it works

Doesn't work for me. WoW freezes on the loading screen using the application on the forum's second page.

Edit: GameObjectDisplayInfo.dbc seems to work now, so Campfire -> Dark Portal is back at least. Still waiting to test the WSG changes I have made previously.

Edit again: Made it to GM Island, too... sort of. The zeppelin reached the island, but I was disconnected the second I jumped off. There's currently a block on using edited zeppelin paths to teleport.

Those ideas they had made me laugh. Obviously they don't understand the signaturefile at all.

As for the program, doesn't seem to be a keylogger or virus, but I can't figure out what it actually is. It appeared to be a hex edited version of WoW.exe, but that doesn't quite seem so. When I try to run it, it says missing configuration or something. I really don't feel like working with it right now.

EDIT: I DLed the link on the second page and it seemed to work, I'll test it useing a model edit now

Hi, this is my first post there ^^
It work for me, i downloaded the program from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] then i placed the exe on my wow folder ( where the WoW.exe are ). I have launched this program ( always scared by this ''window'' icon ) and when i logged in wow, i pressed End then closed the program by the X ( i have done Alt+Tab first ).
I done it 1 hours ago and i can still play, there are some kind of probability for being banned since seems all ok ? Ofc i dont use model editing for changing Campife for a portal of something, only turn my UD to a BE ^^

EDIT: I tryed to launch the program and close it immediatly after WoW start and model changes still works so theres no need to log in with the program launched. It can be potentially a keylogger so stay alert.

Altho hard to understand at first, follow step by step and it works , atleast cf->dp
