hey all... i havent spent much time working on model editing since patch 2.0.3 but i DO kno that all my model edits WORK still except for race change... it seems WoW can detect the character file and it wont read it... i do not think model editing is in its final days (woot!). I am going to keep working on a way to do race changes, and i hope others will to. If anyone figures out a way, tell me. Im not asking for a pacth file to place in my data folder, i like to do these things on my own thanks. If i figure it out ill post a guide as well thx bai!

well, I've tried doing a simple lootfx.m2 change and when i kill something, wow crashes andi get fatal error. :S

yeah, I get the same critical error when I kill a mob, and the lootfx.m2 wants to show. crashes WoW,

Yea, i tryed a lootfx once i read this and it does crash me to :S well at least most changes still work, but my guess is that the solution will be universal, and will work for all error-producing model changes... but i can only hope ^_^ Keep looking guys, there has to be a way.

I can confirm that weapon model changes and mount model changes are still working, and giving me no game crashes.

It works for some people, it doesn't work for others. It may not be dead, but it surely isn't living to the extent it used to.

Campfire->Dark Portal definetly still works

The "signaturefile" located in patch.mpq should give an entire list of hashed external files; anything not on the list can still be changed, including (as said before) weapon, spell, and creature .M2 files, as well as .BLP images and WDB caches.

If you try editing the signaturefile, this error is received:

fixing race changes but still allowing hax/exploits like campfire-darkportal stuff is... and i dont think they overlooked it.. imo just 2 get ppl 2 reroll chars and spend more time so more money!

Are you for positive? I assumed that was one thing they for sure patched, so I figured I'd try to edit the signature file to see the affect... Obciously, it didn't work. Showed the error someone mentioned in an above post, and I just assumed this as a result of swapping the campfire alone.

I know for a fact world\elwynn\..Yada yada..\campfire02.m2 or w/e it is, is in the signature file, so I don't see how this is possilbe...

Not possible to edit the sig file tbh, they use the sig file to check everythings proper, and then they use wow.exe to check the sig files proper :fu:**** blizz
