YOu should be. Blizzard allows graphical model editing. Nothing that would be for exploiting purposes though.

They condone it? Funny.. I just got banned for doing it, just chaning a skin, don't know how or why the found out.. but they said "editing internal game files to the advantage of player" if you mean chaning my pink robes to something so my eyes don't bleed....

well you guys are lucky, atleast you didnt get freakin PERMA-BANNED for running AIM while playing. i had 4/8 T2, 3/8 T1, and lots of other epics, now im freakin pissed, for all those who also got perma banned, blizz better give back these accounts, and for my bro's account, he got a final warning for running a SNES emulator, wtf is up with that. I might as well quit if they will kick you for running like "Mavis Beacon teaches typin 2". Seriously, im ****in pissed as **** right now at blizz, no way are they gettin anymore of my money if they keep this up.

Re: Is model editing still safe? - 09-22-2006

Yeah i just got temporary banned, and from what people are saying...if i ever get perma ban i'll be happy to not give them any more of my money, this is rediculous. The problem i'm getting is that they dont tell me what i was caught for except that i was runnning an innapropriat third person party.

did some research this is what i found that may be a problem with model changing.

"Unapproved Third Party Software:...
...It also includes any programs that obtain information from the game that is not normally available to the regular player or that transmit or modify any of the game files..."

so as Darg says, they can only look at your processesing i would appreciate if someone could find in terms of use where we agree to any scanning of our computer.

list of programs they may have caught me using:
aspeeder(speed hack)
cheat engine(memory editor, can abuse alot of things client side)
mywarcraftstudio(allows me to look through MPQ's and extract the data)
(having a speech2.mpq in my data folder)
xumouse(program that simutaniuosly clicks mouse for you)

Does Blizzard nerf exploits to put the challenge up to people like me/us to find a new way to do it?

Re: Is model editing still safe? - 09-22-2006

Its certainly not illegal to edit your toon, its against ToS to "Edit game files to gain an advantage over other players, Including, but not limited to, changes to your envirment" (Not exact, just a rough quote)

That means, if you ar caught changing BG gates, campfires or anything to something else. basiclly, i see it as if you edit an object that has a collision, yo one with out, and vice versa, you are breaking ToS, but its fine to change your toon (Even though they may ban you if they find out, just because alot of GMs are ****s.... Not all )

NOW THIS IS NOT FOR SURE ITS JUST MY OPINION, BUT i think they are testing warden to stopu from using third party mods that were "UNDETECTABLE" that were running through the background. They clame it to be a "Third Party Software". I am guessing they are going through and getting information and figuring out HOW to catch background programs SIF BLIZZ IS THAT SMART i mean look at the lag on at least half if not all fo the servers.

I DO REPEAT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.

and im pretty sure everyone was banned from logging into the Test Servers which dont even have GM's. A friend had a ticket open for 29 hours but then again that could just be because of Blizz's awesome customer support.

Re: Is model editing still safe? - 09-22-2006

Does this Include Model Editing??

We definitely want people to create their own UIs utilizing custom menu configurations, graphics, and even sounds. Anything that can be coded to modify the style and the look of the UI is fair game, as long as the modifications are done to the sanctioned internal files of the game. However, anything done to the UI to gain any sort of an unfair advantage over other players is unacceptable.

If a player is found to have modified a UI so that they gain an unfair advantage in the game over others, he/she may:

Be temporarily suspended from the game
Have further action taken, up to and including account closure, based on the intent of the modification
