Hello MMOwned
This is my 2nd custom model using Maya PLE 8.5 so plz be gentle (jks, i need the criticism)

The idea is a bladed ring, attached to the handle (above the word attached) by magical, glowey bits like on some of the outlands weapons
Just need to put some texture on there. If anyone could tell me how to get it out of Maya PLE (no .obj exporter), +rep so i can use other program's to texture

Don't get him wrong. He said he GIVE +rep to the one who tell him how to export the model as a .OBJ . Unfortunately I don't know the answer, it seems that you are using a free version of Maya and that have it's output limits. Maybe you could try to find X-output > .OBJ Converter for it. Or another try is to find a crack somewhere and export your model and then import it again in a Maya crack that got full support with outputs, I remember that the full Maya version got 3DS and OBJ outputs as well.

go to window>settings/preferences>plug-in manager ... here turn on objexport.mll

if you now go to just file>export you should be able to also chose .obj as export method.

and about the model .. its kind of plane looking ... nothing special really

no harm done though,

I am using the free version of Maya 8.5 (Personal Learning Ed) and it does not have a .obj plugin (checked)

Jeleopard - i never made that connection lol, i was going more for the Dynasty Warriors 5 Wep but hay, good spotting

It'll look a bit meaner when i export it and get it textured. (i hope)
if not ill just add a few spikes or something

I don't mean to burst your bubble or your hard work on that Shazarn... BUT...
There's a model that sounds like exactly what you're looking for already in WoW...





If you notice, there's a little bit or green glow. (Looks more pronounced on black backgrounds, or darker areas.)

Oh, and Ferag, I do believe this will hurt someone. =P

(You can view it in WoW Model Viewer. 2h Exotic Weapons. It's called "Blade Ring of Shadowsong.")

I am fully aware of Maiev Shadowsong and her ring (Warcraft 3 TFT FTW)
This design mainly came about after playing around on maya with different shapes
I made a circle thing and decided to see where i could take it until i got the the above product
It seems as though i will have to change my design seeing as how everyone seems to love maiev alot hehe
Thanks for the feedback and ill update the pic when i get some more work done on it
