Some things cleared up by reading it all again. But I just can't understand how you can be so sure that the Scan.dll.new doesn't do anything until it becomes Scan.dll. Or am I thinking crazy here?

Okay, so... you have Scan.dll
If you delete it or change something in it, WoW makes Scan.dll.new when you boot up WoW.
Then the next time you boot up WoW, it turns Scan.dll.new into the new Scan.dll and Scan.dll.new disappears.

What I've done here is modify Scan.dll and Scan.dll.new and set them as Read Only.
So WoW can't make a new file.
And it won't use those 2 files since they have been altered.

Do you understand?

Why not just make blank scan.dll and scan.dll.new files and mark them as read only?

I know it accomplishes the same thing as what you did by altering the code to make it unreadable by wow but I'm sure it would get rid of a lot of the questions being asked in this thread.

Fine, just so it clears things up, here are blank files.

None of the above methods work for me. I don't know what the problem is. -_- Any other suggestions? Here is the error message I am getting--

It doesn't matter what I do, I get this damned error. I've tried every fix listed and nothing works.

Thanks, now Im out of questions since Im pretty sure those won't scan at all.

Now the only thing is to check dates at those files so they don't get changed, if Blizzards make a trick and replaces these files anyway.

But that would be overkill from Blizzards side, wouldn't it?

Your edits are great, but its in real little improved solution wrote by me, step 2. Just look to first page, and You will see... anyway, my files were blank, Yours have the Scan code inside, but clean, so its much better. for you, but i am not sure if you need more rep, but i would appreciate for me for showing you right way or just for insipration...

On topic: I've tried this out since cleaned the two files etc. And it seems to work for now, as I've said. Though, I'm not completely sure, but have we accepted this kind of "scanfiles" in Terms of Use, or just Warden?

Obviously, flaming a Moderator is rather silly, and rude, which you are. Demonkunga had the power to sticky this post, and to make a post, so he did both, and people are replying to it, so what's the problem? He could have banned you, but he didn't, that was nice, considering you flamed him.
