I have put this in my Data folder and I have downloaded the Model fix and placed it in my WoW folder, but when I enter and mount up, I still have thesame boring black strider! What am I doing wrong.. ?

You say you placed the model edit fix in your wow folder... did you boot wow with the model edit fix? you should be

Wow... hmmmm, I wish I could test it out... wait a sec, I think I may be able to. Well I can't right now, but heres what I could do once I get my server working.
I could spawn the Battlestrider and see if the edit works for me... don't have a working server atm though
