[Question]"Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow" While Working With .M2 Files - 10-22-2008

I've posted this question in a few threads over the past few days as replies but so far I haven't seen any responses so I'm starting a new topic just for it.

Every time I've attempted to load a .M2 file (have only attempted the racial files) in a program, the program has either crashed outright with the windows popup that asks if you want to send microsoft information about the error, or has presented an error dialoge box that says that if I either quit the program right then and there, or continue trying to load the file. If I click to load nothing happens. If I click the other option, the program closes immediately as if it had crashed but without the error report to Microsoft thing popping up.

The problem does not appear to be limited to one program.

MyWarcraftStudio crashes when I navigate to the .M2 file and select it, thus I could not use it to extract.

I was able to extract the .m2 files in the first place using MywinMPQ .

Glichy's is the only program that has given me any clues as to the problem. When I attempt to use the animation swapper I get the error "Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow."

I am using Win XP , running on a non-private server and have the most recent patches installed.

The only thing I can think of is that I have a skin that I've been using for quite a while now. Is there any chance that it is causing the crashes even though the skins are stored in a completely different file?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a project that I am eager to work on, but can't do much until I can work with the file.

Simple, you're trying to open a WoW 3.x M2 with programs that support the 2.x format. The model format changed in patch 3.0.2.

for being the first to point me in the right direction after several days of searching. It's much appreciated. This also explains why my BEs, Draeni, and Succububi are bright green since the patch (they are amongst those that were skinned).

That said, I'm trying to for sure swap animations between races, possibly edit skins (I know photoshop - but I'll have to get it in a format I can work with and then repackage), and possibly change the voices in emotes for one or more races by either swapping with other races, or using new sound files all togehter.

What (if any) are going to be the best programs to do this with given the version I'm working with? I downloaded what I believed to be the most recent version of glitchy's MES and My Warcraft Studio, but as you know both of the versions on my machine were out of date.

... that said it is kinda odd that some of the models I have skins for turned bright green , and others remain unchanged if the entire format changed with the patch...

If you're doing texture work, the current version of MWS will work fine - the .BLP format didn't change.
