Lately i have been trying to model edit and do some reskins to give back to MMowned after all i have taken over this time

And i wanted to start with a simple cloak reskin, i extracted the blp, turned it into a JPG, did what i wanted to it, and re-made it a BLP, after looking through this thread

I was very VERY confused at step 9

If someone could clarify how exactly i "9. Make it into an MPQ with the right treepath" And how i replace the BLP's i would be very grateful! Mabye even enough for a rep cookie?

With My Warcraft Studio, go find your BLP.

Say you reskinned black cows into something else. You would go into MWS, go to Creatures, then Cow and select CowBlack.blp

You can right click on CowBlack.blp and choose "Copy treepath" It will copy "Creature\Cow\CowBlack.blp" That's the treepath you will need to put when you make a new MPQ and drag the new reskinned into it.


Use My Warcraft Studio to Create a new MPQ. Drag and drop your BLP. And it will ask you to specify a treepath, put in "Creature\Cow\CowBlack.blp" ( if you're reskining black cows that is. )

I did that, and i made one, named it Patch-5

Draged the BLP in there and renamed it the file trees to the one i am editing saved it (of course) and tried with three cloaks, including trying with the MEfix

and it still does not want to work with me =/

I am not to sure what i am doing wrong, if i upload my BLP would anyone here mind trying them selves and seeing if it would work for them?

Does the name tree include the name of the BLP and the .BLP at the end?

Did you put Patch-5 in the Data Folder and added a line "Patch-5.MPQ" to the wowme.config file? If you don't do that it wont load the patch you made.

It has .BLP at the end, yes.

And it seems i dont have a config folder....

But i was under the impression for a BLP edit, that this would not require it.

Honestly i cant see what i am doing wrong, other then back in the day, old school WoW model swaping used to be a ton of Folders and drag and drop, bunch of pain, and i seem to have done it a bit...easy..to easy honestly...Something did not seem to right, sorry for all this hassel =/
