Help [Help] Using different .m2's per spell, not with file swapping? - 05-05-2008

Hey all,

I'm decently new to model switching, only file swapping and minor .blp editing skills under my belt.

I'm attempting to change my fire school spells (as a Warlock) to resemble the "fel" look -- a.k.a. Green fire. I've seen a few of the packs around, but I want to do this manually seeing as how I might want to tweak some stuff around to my personal taste.

I've gone through the model viewer, and post-BC there are a ton of fel-colored fire spells... one for every warlock ability except Incinerate it looks like. That inclines me to think this shouldn't be that hard -- but the only method I'm familiar with is file swapping. The problem with that is that then every fire mage will be running around with green fire too... needless to say, that's not what I want.

Is there a database somewhere resembling this?:

Spell_ID1: art1.m2, art2.m2, art3.m2
Spell_ID2: art4.m2, null, null, art5.m2
Spell_ID3: art6.m2, null, art7.m2, art8.m2

That way, I could locate the proper spell and change the files it uses per spell -- plus, have more control over the different variations of hand state, missiles, impact states, etc...

Any help?

Hey adtech21,

I've done a bit of research of my own, and found that what I'm looking for is probably done with DBC editing;
I just don't know which database file has the spell graphic information. I did find this though...

I opened it up, but I couldn't tell which spell was which. If you have AIM, I'm on Seuldieu. Your offer is
more than generous... and a fellow warlock I see! =) Any help/assistance you can offer would be greatly
appreciated.
