Changing .m2 spells graphic? - 04-17-2008

Hey everyone,

I'm not a 100% n00b in Model editing anymore, but I must admit i'm not pro neither :P

So i'm asking:
How can I change the color of a spell if it doesn't got any .blp file? For example if you take this thread: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
I was going to give it a try with doing the .blp to .png and then change it in Adobe Photoshop thingy, but there's no .blp file for Incinerate / Immolate..

Is there a .m2 -> .blp program? Or how would I be able to do it?

Will , and thanks to helpers :P

It's hard to answer properly without knowing exactly how they work. I see that some spells such as Death Coil have both M2 and BLPs. In that case, it should work fine, obviously.

I am pretty sure that a M2 without a BLP is just a huge model with nothing on it. Think about a cat in game. Without the BLP, it's a huge white thing. So, remembering the theory that any M2 needs a BLP to have color, there is probably a color file somewhere. Who knows, it could even be a DBC edit or something. All I know is that a M2 shouldn't have color with itself alone =p

Hope some pro can provide an accurate answer

Well in that case I do believe that there are green immolate and other green warlock fire spells already made, so in that case it would be a simple .m2 edit.

It other cases you are going to have to find the spell.m2 that you want to modify. Extract it and look at it with m2modder. It should be made up of both particles and .blps. You can edit the .blps with the .blp converter and photoshop. For the particles edit them through m2modder. If you go to change color you will see an 8 digit code. The first 2 digits are the transparency (leave these alone), the last 6 are a hex color code. You will have to play with it as the method is not perfected. Finally, I don't think there is a way to change the color of the tail although, I think that the tail color may be in another .blp. Hope that helped. Feel free to ask questions.

By m2modder do you mean the Cryect tools thing? Well that one doesn't work for me , when I open m2modder it just closes immidiatly, same with all other Cryect tools. Any idea why? Can I use another program?
