please help resizing -
04-17-2008
I got the tauren male to draenei female conversion to work, but the model is extremely large and out of proportion on the screen. the research I did here on the forums suggested this:
1) open the patch with my warcraft studio
2) copy the treepath of the .m2 and put it into a file
3) extract the .m2
4) resize it with Glitchy's tool (advanced apps -> m2 tools -> model resizer)
5) put the .m2 back into the patch with my warcraft studio under the same treepath.
I'm unsure what it means to "put it into a file", though. can someone please help me complete this change, as I'm new to model editing and this site. thank you!

still haven't figured out how to resize. can someone please guide me through this process?
also, my tauren shaman converted to draenei female shows up with the season 2 helm being way too big. (think Dark Helmet in spaceballs, lol) if I try and turn off helm graphic her face is all messed up texture-wise. my tauren druid shows up with a normal draenei female face. what gives? the only thing both the shaman and druid share is the character size. they're both tall like a tauren.
Those look like my horrid directions. I think I mistyped when I wrote step 2. By file I mean paste the treepath of the .m2 into notepad. Sorry for the confusion. Also, if it is only that one helmet then you could resize it with Glitchy's MES. If its multiple helmets that give you a problem (with size), then you could probably do a DBC edit to fix it. Good Luck!

thanks, I'll see what I can do. that makes more sense. I'm pretty "green" about this stuff, so I'm not sure if I can figure out how to do all this, though. we'll see.
oh, and it's all helms on the draenei female conversion. it's quite funny to go into a bg and see all these huge helmets on tauren->draenei, but I'm sure that will wear off soon. =P
Well I hope you can figure it out. If you need any more help, feel free to ask. I'm stuck at my office for the day. Hopefully I'll get my main computer fixed soon.

ok, I got as far as right clicking the .m2 file and pasting the treepath into notepad, then I right click the .m2 and extract to desktop. I've tried a few things, but am unclear what to do from here. I went into the glitchy's model resizer, but it doesn't seem to do anything. so what should I do after I extract the .m2 to desktop? sorry for the noob questions, but I think this process will help me understand a lot more.
I'll try figuring out the dbc edit you were talking about right now.
If you have the .m2 on your desktop. Go into Glitchy's MES (I assume you found the model resizer). Load the .m2 that you saved to your desktop. Lets assume you want to make the object 2 times bigger. Put a 2 in and click enlarge model. Then proceed with the next step.
Ok, Glithy's MES did something, you may not know it yet, but it did.
When you put it back. Select the old .m2 from YOUR patch (DO NOT edit blizzard patches). Click remove. Then Click add file. Click the "...", select the new .m2. In the box after you have selected the new .m2, paste the treepath that you copyed into notepad.

You rock, man, thanks! it worked. the helm is still hilarious, but I'm assuming I can fix that in Glitchy's with the race swapper since it has the helm fix option? I'll have to work on the size, as well. the model is very tiny just from an input of 2 -> shrink from the value of 1 that it had.
Glad I could help. I'm not sure if the helm fix will work, but its worth a try. You could edit the helms that you want with Glitchy's MES or possibly do a DBC edit. You can also play around with the model size until you get it right (you can try like 1.6 times smaller and things like that). Also if you have trouble with the walking speed (not sure if you mind it), I can show you how to fix that too. Thanks for the rep. Enjoy your edit.

I resized the helm the same way I resized the draenei model - looks great now. I had tried several other ways before it occurred to me to just try that. =P using the helm fix from Glitchy's just made the size of the draenei revert to its' prior state, even though it allowed the helm to match the size. I also tried the premade "helm fixes" for TaM to DrF with no luck...several times.
anyway - a run speed fix, like you mentioned, would be awesome if you have the time. also, the weapon and shield are a bit large, but I can't fix them the same way I did the helm. this is because when I look under item --> objectcomponents in MWS it only shows helm. no weapons, etc. if there's any way of sizing those correctly I'd be in your debt.
I spent a lot of several frustrating hours doing this stuff and learning, but I can imagine how long it'd have taken had you not helped so much. thanks! Now it's actually more fun and not so frustrating.
Ya, its sometimes annoying finding models. Use Glitchy's Model Searcher to give you a general idea where to look.
As for the walking speed. Load the (race).m2 in the animation editor. Select the walk animation. Under animation speed, it should be like 3.9 or so. Put it down to about 3.6 (you can play around with it a bit) and it should work.

not having any luck with this so far. I loaded the Draeneifemale.m2 file (from common.mpq) from MWS to MES, tried changing the value in the D block (wouldn't let me changed anything other than a whole value, ie: no decimals), saved it and then copied back to common.mpq with original treepath. no luck at all.
Its hard to give directions, because I don't have the data on this computer. I can help you more in a couple days, or someone else can help you (getting new parts for my broken computer).
Edit: See that moving speed option. You have to change that.
