Question 1. It possible to make a unique, controllable copy of a model? That way, race conversion wouldn't be needed and everyone else would still have the same race whereas you could have a custom model.

Question 2. Are there model edits available which have the texture information included? Perhaps i am missing a very important step, but when importing these files into the game, the model edits are trying to use the skins of the original model.

depends on the model. some models use creature skins. rename the blps too or change it with dbcs. there are guides.
