I have a question about the DBC editor in the sticky on this forum. I've downloaded it, but apparently windows doesn't know what to do with it or how to open it.

If the answer is somewhere on this site, please let me know and I will keep looking. If it isn't, then I'd really appreciate if someone could help a noob out!

Lately its been giving me trouble so I convert it to csv and then edit it with CSVed. Both are in the applications sticky.

Hey, awesome guide

Finally got the hang of it and made the following change

I had a male undead, 5 0 7 8, I model changed to female and wanted hair style number 0 for female, so I found the geoset for the female hair style number 3, 5 1 0 2 and changed my original to 5 0 7 2, which all worked just gravy

However when I play as male undead, I would like to change my hair style to Bald

As I am 5 0 7 8, I need the 5 0 0 (bald) geoset, which is 0

So I changed to 5 0 7 0 - all the hair does dissapear but I am left with a black patch on my characters head.

I next tried changing from 5 0 7 0 0 to 5 0 7 0 1, as the bald male undead is 5 0 0 0 1 but I still have this horrible black patch of skull

Other people have touched on this issue in this thread but I wondered if anyone had a specific answer for me?

I pursued the idea of changing my hair colour to one that looks like a male undeads skull but didn't see it working out - Does anyone think that that would be a good aim?

Thankyou
Fara

Change field 5 of CharHairGeosets.dbc to 1. (taken from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ])

Ok I'm having some trouble here. I race changed from belf male into human male. I'm trying to get Human hairstyle 6, the geoset number is 7. I have blood elf hairstyle 2, and I changed belf hairstyle 2's geoset to 7. I make the patch and put it in the Data folder and I am still left with the human hairstyle I orginally had. Am I doing anything wrong?

Any help is appreciated.

I have been looking for a resource for model editing for a while now and now I've finally found the holy grail of editing. I am having one problem with editing my hair style though.

I changed my UD Male model into a BE Female model and it left me looking a like I just got all my hair buzzed off. Basically my CharHairGeosets.dbc looks like this:

5 0 0 0 1 -- Bald style
5 0 1 2 0 -- Ponytail style from Female Blood Elves

I realize that I say I'm wanting a hairstyle from a Blood Elf Female on a Male Undead but the number for the hairstyle I want, as it shows up in my model viewer, is style 1. In my model viewer, since I have changed the UD male model into the BE female model, I see a BE female when I choose the UD male to get the hair style numbers. The style numbered 1 is what displays the ponytail while the style numbered 0 is what my character looks like in-game.

It would seem that Faradhym was having more or less the same issue and I suppose Grymskvll told him how to fix it because he hasn't posted again. My problem is that even with changing the 5th field to 0 it still shows up as having a buzzcut on my Female BE.

I don't know if I have explained the issue thoroughly enough so that it is understandable but I would like to try and get this to work as I don't know how much longer I can stare at my "G.I. Jane" Blood Elf much longer. If someone can tell me how to fix it here I would appreciate it. I'm also cool with using PMs to try and fix this as well if need be.

Thanks in advance for any help and thanks for everything on this site, it's just what I've been looking for.

I've got it working now. All I did was remake the MPQ file completely from scratch. Now if only I could get the hair color right...
