Questions & Answers
  • Q: Is there anything i have to do with the file i saved?
  • A: Put it in World of Warcraft\Data and rename it to patch-a.mpq (where a is 3-9 or a-z).
  • Q: How i fix the helmed of my broken draenei? Cant find it in the list.
  • A: Since the broken are not able to wear helmets normally you'll have to choose a helm-type that is matching better than yours. Try Draenei or Tauren.
  • Q: When I open the file for the Helm [xy] it's just a set of glowing eyes.
  • A: That is a bug when mWCS renders the model. See below for hints on that.
  • Q: Does this work for non-tiered helms too?
  • A: Yes it does. Just find the right model.
  • Q: Is it possible to fix feets too with this guide?
  • A: No, its not. Search the Guides-Forum for that guide.

Additional Information
  • A suggestion for those that have problems identifying which asdf_a_e_2352 happens to be your helm, download "WoWModelViewer" [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and get the updated items (meaning it includes t6 etc). Using that program to find your helm's ID is much quicker because they are all in 1 list as opposed to being spread out over 3-4.
  • Many of the objects selected in MyWarcraftStudio turn out as bugged images. WoWModelViewer is able to render those correctely.
  • Also lookup other archives than common.mpq! Also check patch.mpq and patch-2.mpq for newer files!
  • Always get the newest version of myWarcraftStudio: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Re: [Guide] Helmet Fixing - 10-06-2007

Hey, thank you very much for the guide. But I still have one problem which is the helmet I have currently is not tiered one but it has the same t5 model. And I tried to fix it with t5 model and obviously it doesn't work and I can not find my helmet's model in WoWmodelviewer nor mywarcraftstudio.

Could you tell me if you have any way that can solve this ?

The helmet name is Cowl Of The Grand Engineer btw and it has the same model as Tier5 mage helmet.

I fixed many helms with this guide but suddenly it no longer works. (as of the latest patch, 2.2.3) for me.

Does it still work for you?
