[Guide] Particle Injecting - 04-19-2008

Hello again
This guide is to show you how to extract/inject particles using Cryects Tools/ Command Prompt
Note: The files I use in this guide have a small change not a big one
White bolded letters= Keywords

Step 1: Open MWS and extract the m2 (in this guide it will be WaterElemental.m2)you want to get the particles from and the m2(in this guide it will be Frostbolt.m2) you want to inject the particles into

Step 2: Drag the m2 you want to get the particles from and drag it ontop of pextractor.exe you should get a screen in Command Prompt like this:

you can skip the description if you want but give it an easy name it will be in the same directory as your m2's and pinjector and pextractor (i just named it k)

Step 3: go to your start menu and search for cmd -Vista way go to start menu and look for run, press it and type in cmd then press enter - XP way

Step 4:
After command prompt is open type in the drive that it is in IT MUST BE IN THE MAIN (such as C:\ or F:\ or D:\ or E:\ depending what you use (i use a flash drive so mine is F:\) ) look at my example (just replace F with what ever drive you use (most commonly C:\) )
it should look similar to this :

Now press enter it should look like this:

Step 5: check in model viewer

I'm gonna try this method out, I was thinking it would be kinda cool to insert particle effects somehow but never gave it much more thought.

Oh and about improving the guide, the colour purple is horrible when reading.
I can't read it without highlighting the whole text, completely useless guide in that sense so please change that. And you could perhaps go and lighten up some keywords, for example "search for cmd (for vista only i believe".

To have keywords on important steps is always good, some people may not know about that cmd command in Run.

Also, something you might want to add is if what kind of effect different spells would have? The FrostBolt.m2 is a missile type spell, which means it always stays on and don't decay. What happens if you pick something that do decay, maybe Rejuvenation for example? Or impact type spells which happens when a fireball hits a target and makes it go "poof" for a short moment.

Although, +rep since I'd actually wanted to know this so, good work

There are some problems with this Guide. Such as if you take a partial out of a Model that links to say a High index texture. For example some Spells have 4 Textures and if you inject the partials on a model that only has 1 texture the partials are going to be looking for the textures 2-3 when they dont exist.

The same problem happens with bones. A lot of weapons have less bones then spells that you take the partials from. So when you inject them into the model the partials are looking for bones that are not there.

This guide is missing 70% of what i think should be in a Partial Injection Guide. You Covered the process of of the injection but you didn't describe how to correct the Bones/Textures.

Nice guide, but I got a problem...

When I drag&drop WaterElemental.m2 to the pextracter.exe I get this:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Then I press [enter]:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Then I enter a name for it and press [enter] again:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Then the window just closes and I don't get any files in the folder..

sorry for beeing noobisch
