I have a problem when i try to start mangos and realm it gives me an error (the aplication hase faild to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect please see the aplication event log for more details pls help

Thanks a bunch for this post. I am in the process of setting it up now. Will be fun to have my own server. Once I get it all set up I will try to make it a public server over here in Sicily.

Nice guide i think its gonna work for me only one small question .
Place "ad.exe" inside your wow directory (usually C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft).
Create new file within wow directory titled "maps".
Execute "ad.exe" (within wow directory).
Wait... ... ... (extraction will take a while)
When finished, the command line window will close.
Place filled "maps" folder within your MaNGOS directory

Aight, so, after alot of not-so-hard work thanks to your great guide, I managed to make myself a new server.
Now, it seems my server is stuck in a loop, and me, being the noob at this point, have no idea how I can remotely shut it down and bring it back up. Any pointers?

So will I be able to play retail and not get ban-hammered? Is there anything I need to delete in my World of warcraft folder if I wanna go back to playing retail?

Thanks for that nice guide. Server seems to be okay and work fine, but I'm unable to connect due to my game version (I already have 3.0.9 installed).
Is there a possibility to install World of Warcraft a second time in a different folder only patching this to 3.0.3? When I insert the installation-CD it only says "Play" and I have no chance to install it another time.
Does anybody know, how to install it a second time or to create a second WoW-folder with the 3.0.3 version?

Just rename your wow folder and don't run the game before you install the 2nd one. thats what I did for my 3 installs .
to play the 2nd on you can just make a shortcut of its wow.exe
