Oh, I've done that for about.... 100000000 million pics (no exaggeration, lol). Magnetic lasso tool is probably the tool I use most in Photoshop

use the pen tool instead, its much easier

Not Really, theres more options with the pen tool and you can make curves and all that that you cannot with the magnetic lasso...
