Hello, I'm looking for anyone who could help me get through my college's proxy so I could connect to steam to download my games. I can give any info that you need, I've tried doing it myself a few times, but haven't had any luck. If anyone can recommend a program and how to set it up, or just a website that might guide me through it (yes I have used google, but if you know of a good site...) that would be great.
I have access to a decent wi-fi connection that doesn't have a proxy setup so if I need to go to a site that my college may have "blocked" that's something I can do. (And yes, as a last resort I could use that to download my games, but it would mean standing in a stairwell for quite a long amount of time, since that's the only place I can seem to pick it up)
Thanks a ton to anyone who can help me out here!
Did they block the steam website or did they block the ports the steam application uses to download your games? (i don't use steam)
if they only blocked the webpage a normal http-proxy should solve the problem. if they blocked additional ports you have to set up and use a socks-proxy.
yes i did. the software you recommended is wack. it surely won't make it through the college firewall systems. they must be stupid if they allow you to establish an ipsec tunnel through their firewall.
anyway if you only need to tunnel http or https traffic why even install such a software?
