Most people use limewire for downloading music and programs and what not.This is a short guide to using limewire and not getting viruses from downloads.

Once you install it, for the love of God, get a GOOD anti-virus program (if you don't already have one)

Now that you have your anti-virus and limewire set up, let me give you an example of what usually is a virus:

-- If it has a size of about ~3 megabytes or lower
-- If it is spelled with weird symbols
-- Don't get keygens, they usaully have a virus
-- If you are searching for a text file, make sure the file type is not .bat
-- Never download EXE's, get a zip, rar, iso, or other compressed files

Thats it! (until I can think of more) so enjoy limewire and be safe

It is a great program for getting stuff you don't feel like paying for :P Just because you can get viruses isn't really that big of a deal. if you're smart, you can avoid them.

I'd rather torrent and get exactly what I want, exactly how I want it. Using P2P software can get you some weird stuff, and music is always named wrongly :/

Hate to tell you but torrents are P2P too. But you are right in saying torrents are better then limewire. If your looking for a fast easy way to get stuff that isnt P2P use newsgroups.

You could also download Ares, I think its better than limewire due to Ares having no viruses (I think)

Of course it is a P2P program, thus it has viruses... Also limewire has way more features...

All you saying you like torrents better, limewire works with torrents. So if you want a torrent, that is fine, but when you cannot find a good one search on limewire.

So limewire is king.

It can't connect.

I've told it to route through the ports I opened, but no avail.
