Ok, I am currently writing an application that intercepts a connection from one program, opens a socket from that program to the original connection destination, and then basically takes the packets from the first connection and sends them out the second.

Now, Ive gotten to the point where I can set my realmlist to connect to localhost, then the program connects out to the normal us.logon.blahblahblah.etc. So far so good. I can log in, the login packets go through the programs In-Socket, and out the Out-Socket, login accept is recieved from the server through the Out-Socket, then sent back to the WoW client from the In-Socket. But then the socket closes, and WoW makes a brand new connection! (To the actual realm). Im having a bit of a time figuring out where that connection actually is. SO my question is:

Does anyone that is particularly well-versed with Private Servers know just how a connection to a Realm is established after login is accepted?

This isn't directly WoW Related. It could be used for Instant messanging if a pervert is talking to you, you could send the Out-Socket to the police, if you were really good at it. At least, thats what i would say. And this isn't a bot or hack for WoW just a useful program.

Yes... but my question is related to WoW, being that I know easily how to accept a connection (intercept it with my application) and then use another socket to redirect it elsewhere, and have the application bridge the two sockets at the application level.

My specific question was about how I can grab the connection from Client -> Realm server for WoW, as it is a completely separate connection from Client -> WoW Login Server. Its in the wrong section, and I understand this as well as apologize for not taking the time to read the section description as there really isnt a program development section on this forum

A: set the realmlist

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

or B: set my hosts file to to intercept the connection without touching the realmlist file

127.0.0.1 us.logon.worldofwarcraft.net

Thats all good and dandy. Now the thing is... after the connection is made, login sent to server, login accept sent from server to client, the client drops the connection to the login server, and connects to the actual realm (Tichondrius at 12.129.225.41 port 3724)

Problem is that it is making an IP connection, so a mere hosts file change wont cut it. Anyone know a good way I can intercept that connection?
