Here are the best multi-protocol instant messangers out there. You do in fact need to make account names with all of the IM services you wish to use, because it does not have 1 universal one. For those of you who do not know, a multi-protociol instant messager is one that allows you to connect to many different IM services at once (such as AIM, MSN, ICQ, etc) While only downloading 1 program. here they are:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Pidgin is the very best. All of the Instant Messagers used today are in Pidgin, It is awesome.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] trillian is almost as good as pidgin, except that it doesn't have as many different protocols. It has AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] very good, for mac users only. AIM, MSN, Jabber, Yahoo, google talk, lotus, etc.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Ayttm is horrible, but it is cross platform, so i think it may work on linux.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] ICQ, Yahoo!, AIM, IRC, MSN, Gadu-Gadu and Jabber are supported, as well as almost every OS. Not a
great look though.

good list, but forgetting xfire initially ruins the whole thing. (and for the whiners who complain xfire isn't multi-protocol, EAT [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] NUBS!!
