First of all, it's Ubuntu and you don't run linux and ubuntu, ubuntu is a linux distribution.

Wow:
Runs in wine (Wine makes it possible to run windows programs)

Msn:
Doesn't run in wine but has it's native linux client called Amsn
Pidgin is also a possibility

Runs with wine either

If you want to know wheter an app runs with wine, just search wine appdb
