Free Vent Server

Ok i found this on the WoW forums and now im sharing it with you, just trying to get the last 8.

Every "Free" or "Public" edition of Vent (probably the one you use as the pro is for buisnesses)
You can host a maximum of 8 clients (users)
I have outfitted my computer to run the Ventrilo Server Client as I am logged into it.

Depending on your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and your connection speed, This can be VERY taxing on your bandwidth, however i have OC-3(155mbps) so the bandwidth is not a problem for me.

There are many ways to get around the 8 slot limit on the "Public" version of Ventrilo, however this is in direct violation of the EUA (End User Agreement), and in most countries very against your laws.

There should be a folder called "Ventserv" in your start menu above or below the "Ventrilo" folder.
Open up the .exe "Ventrilo Server" and copy down the IP(Internet Protocol) address it gives you.
(Note, this is your Internet Protocol Address.)
Then open Ventrilo, Copy the Address into a new server connection.
Leave the port number the same.
Then click OK.
Connect. "

This is the only way i know how to get a free server other than, sending in short stories or some gay stuff.

I just set one up not too long ago, it's fairly simple, doesn't seem to be hurting my bandwidth. But if you're on a router you have to make sure the default port is forwarded for that computer. If you need help setting one up just ask.

Are you Admin to this server with all Administrative rights?

Yup, but only 8 people can join.

Yea vent has always had this option, so it's not really a pirated thing, not his release though =/

Yea, just kinda lettting it be know to everyone, i had no clue of this feature until today and i have had ventrillo since last year, so i figured not too many people knew it. =)

As said above, make sure that your router has the default server's port forwarded. Also, even though you can be admin of the ventrilo server, you cannot be a channel admin, therefore not being able to setup separate channels, only 1 big "lobby"

If you want more slots you'll have to get the 2.1.2 server thingy

You can be channel admin, you just have to right click on the main channel, then go to channel admin, then create.

Have been running my own vent for months now, doesn't hurt my bandwidth much unless it's very active. Runs nicely as a service in the background.

But yeh.. limited to 8 slots is kinda crap
