Building A Computer! - 02-17-2008

Well, I'm not building a computer but I want to replace my motherboard, because I only have PCI slots. I want to switch my motherboard, but I want to know what I need, do I just buy a new one and install it? So far I have heard that I need a motherboard, new CPU and what I basically am doing this for my new graphics card. This is what I've decided to buy.

If you're going to "replace" your motherboard, you're best off just building a new computer.

Thats just my suggestion.

Don't have the budget to do that... what is so bad about just replacing it?

The motherboard is the main part of your computer. You must look carefully that the CPU and the RAM are compatible with it...... also it has to support your GraphicCard connection... AGP, PCI, PCI-EXpress ...
So if you just take any other mainboard, it can be that the parts (CPU, RAM, Grapic) dont fit.

Checked all parts... they all fit, I've even got someone to check them, so I am pretty much going to buy it soon.

I would suggest that you buy a new one instead.

For Best Price/Performance it would be nice to know your budget and what CPU/RAM/GPU you currently have

Dude.
I bought this PC like 2 years ago... it has 3.06ghz processer and bleh and 1GB of ram... it was only £500 then! I mean... thats in GB too (which is really expensive compaired to other places in the world *cough*America*cough*).

I am pretty sure you could buy near-enough 4ghz with like... 4gb of ram these days for £500 lmao

Just buy a new one. I found looking at buying a powerful processor is nearly the same price as buying a new PC!
