I've done it, others have done it, and I've never seen it as an issue. Now that someone has leeched from me, I wonder what they found. Yes, I p2p, and have heaps of movies and cartoons for me and my son, as well as some music, but I don't really care that someone might have seen my Godzilla or old school Transformers cartoons. What I care about is that the one day in 5 years that I've had wireless at my home open up without wep or wpa, someone latched on to me... and her name is Jessica.

Not only do I want to know who she is, I want to know what she's doing. I'm going to shut down my shares before I do this, but here is the actual reason I'm posting this in mmowned....

I know that there is at least one application that allows me to watch what is happening on my network, but it isn't a packet sniffer. I'm looking for an application that acts like a passthrough.

I've seen this before, but never wrote down what it was. When in use, you can actually see what someone else is doing as if you were watching remotely, but without installing software on the other system. Heck, I have Spectrasoft for that for my kid, and it's great, but this is something else. Can anyone help me with the name of this application? If so, pm me. I've only 5 pm slots, so try again later if you pm me and its full.

Yes, it was my fault. Yes, I'm encrypted again. Yes, I'm going to have to drop the encryption again, but want to try and see if they're just leeching so they can cheat on their boyfriend, log into their myspace or facebook without their parents seeing, or what. Any help would be great.

You must install other software on the system you want to remote controll, as far as I know. The most-known software is "RealVNC"... Also you can use a Software called "Look@Lan" to see who is in your Local network (It scannes IPs)... and If you see something online just go out of your house, seek that leecher and BAM. WLAN Range isnt that big.

I already have access to utilities that allow me to view ip addresses and the traffic that they're generating. But the work is too manual. I could search the log, find out where they are going and what they are doing, but what I'm looking for doesn't need to have client software on the offending system. I'm looking for something that allows me to have my laptop and router act as a pass-through where if they went to ebay, I could actually see ebay show up in my browser.

I have to drop my security every once and a while now, and since they locked on to an ip in my dhcp range, I know that I can just prevent them from using it by putting all of the mac addresses that do have permission into the routing table, but I bring home laptops and pc's where I need to do some work, and I change the mac address on my home pc's when I p2p so no one can lock down any specific activity to my own p2p downloads since my real mac is "replaced". I just hate having to go in an add a new mac to a router. Again, I'm just trying to find out who they are. I'm sure that they're withini a 1 house radius, but that's still 10 houses.

If they know who I am, all they have to do is come over my home and ask instead of just taking it.

As far as I know you need to be on the same workgroup to see network shares etc??

No, the same workgroup is not needed. When you setup some folder as "Shared" in windows they are shared, if not they are not. With <b>older</b> Versions of Windows it was possible to see all content of a Harddisk if you got the persons LAN IP. You had to write "XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX\c$" (Insert LanIP instead of XXX) in the Adress-Line in Windows-Explorer or IE..

If you're not paying by the KB, who cares? Really, if I see someone connect to my interwebs I rename my network "Leechmore" and let them go on with it.

You can set up a password to lock your internet connection. And have your Pcs set up so they can get on and off.
So you wont have to worry about her download

you can also set up your wireless router to accept only those computers that have a approved mac address, thats what I did, even with my wep key they still cant leech unless I give their mac address the go.
