-(B) So many people got this wrong. Dr. Who is in fact the longest running Sci-fi show EVER. Dr. Who has been on the air for 43 consecutive years and still airs new shows weekly. Star Trek and all its generations combined were only on air for 26 years, no single generation ran more then 7 seasons (TNG). However the longest running American Sci-fi show ever is Stargate: SG1 running for 10 consecutive seasons. SG1 was scheduled to be canceled by Sci-fi channel this past march after the launch and success of the new series Atlantis, which features almost all of the main characters from SG1 but basicly with a new title. Is SG1 truly dead? one may speculate.
