Ok.. These are the hard, cold facts.
You CAN be banned for scamming.
You CAN be banned for hacking.
You CAN be banned for saying "shit" in global chat.
You CAN be banned for saying "hi" in global chat.
The fact is, according to Blizzard's own Terms Of Use -> [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] <--

They do NOT need a reason. You agreed to it.. It doesn't matter how much your butt hurts. You can NOT sue for ANYTHING they do to your account. As they stated, >most< account suspensions, terminations and/or deletions are the result of violations..... Not >all<.. Meaning.. they covered their asses.. You can be banned for ANYTHING in the game.. Even completing a quest, honestly, if they so felt it worthy..
I don't care what country you live in.
US hosting == US rules and applicable laws. (if you're EU, this doesn't apply to you.. your own hosting == your own laws, etc)
If you want to come up with something truly groundbreaking, then do so.
We will give you credit.
If you're another one of the idiots off from school break who wants to post something obvious.. Or wants to post something redicilious, then go for it.. But be prepared to be scorched by the flame-thrower.
On a side note... Those of you who say "Blizz can't do this because of X..".. or "they won't ban you because of X".. post a legal reason why.
If you don't.. you're what I refer to as a "Barracks Lawyer".. IE.. When I was in the Army.. There were many people who ran around saying the same things.. The things was.. They were wrong.. They thought one thing.. Until the people who actually knew law brought the hammer down.
So.. If you're right.. And you've done the legal research, and know that for a fact, the Blizzard legal team can >not< touch you, due to legal precedence’s.. Then post your "they will >not< do >whatever<
If you haven't.. And you truly don't know what the hell you're talking about.. Then, kindly, shut the hell up, from here on out.

I've stated you can get banned for anything, quoting the ToS multiple, MULTIPLE times, just not recently :P

You are correct, but its really not that people think they cant ban you for something like saying "shit" in global or even having a conversation with someone in trade channel, its that people who have been playing a long time and have seen the actions blizzard takes on certain infringements of the ToS, know that most of the time blizzard WONT ban you unless your really doing something wrong. If you say shit or any swear (i have many times before and been reported numerous times) you will be contacted by a GM if your in the game, or get that e-mail from blizzard telling you about your actions and what they did about it. They give you a warning and tell you

This quote is taken directly from an e-mail i got from them about someone who reported me for whispering to them "Go kill your own shit if you want a chest, don't let others who are attempting to get the chest take the agro while you run in and take it." after they ninjaed a chest from my group after we pulled the mobs around it. I have, multiple times, been reported for swearing or even someone who was pissed that i was having a conversation with like 5 or so other people in the trade channel, and gotten emails similar to the one i got for saying shit, and guess what, all i get are warning, they never do anything else.
The point is, yes they CAN ban you for the stupidest of things, but the fact is most of the time (and i do say most of the time because im not 100% sure) they WONT ban you for the little things. Their main goal is to crack down on things such as gold farming, hacking, and things of that such nature. And people, there is something called a language filter that you CAN enable that will turn "shit" into "****", so don't complain if someone swears at you, they put the filter there for a reason, and you must have taken it off for a reason, because by default it is enabled.
