WoW was my very first MMORPG therefore I have very high expectations, I'm wondering does any other MMORPG even compare to WoW? I've played a few MMORPGs, free and pay monthly most of which were quite frankly terrible -

Knight Online for example -
If you enjoy glitchy gameplay, Engrish questgivers and Turkish spam then you might enjoy this game otherwise it's a load of rubbish.

Runescape -
Looks worse than a 2 month diseased turd, plays worse too. I'm not even mentioning the "Community". I use that term lightly.

Battleon -
Is pretty fun for a while, but it's not really an MMO just an RPG.

Tales of Pirates -
Seemed okay, point and click movement put me off a bit, wasn't groundbreaking and I only played for a few hours.

LOTRO -
Some people enjoy it, I didn't. I found it very boring and didn't have any drive whatsoever to level (The level 50 gear looks terrible). They only have horse mounts and the areas got dull quickly for me and there was no sign of proper PvP whatsoever, I hated the crafting system and I hated the sound effects, the music was good but the combat sounds were downright cheap. I levelled a Champion to level 11 and a Loremaster to level 10 and although I didn't really get them very high I didn't like the classes (I like to play caster classes and LOTRO lacked in that department). I thought the graphics tried too hard as well, I prefer WoWs stylized graphics, as in a few years LOTRO will begin to look outdated whereas WoW graphics will still appeal as they are unique and even though they are about 3 years old they still look very nice. The character models are just awful as well

EVE Online -
I've played this and it seemed more like a headache than a game to me. Every area was the same (all space). The only things to do it appears is mining or killing things and everything was 1000000 times more complicated than it should be also it has a very steep learning curve. I played this for a week then quit before I ended up committing suicide due to extreme boredom and very large numbers. It seemed to lack emotion as well, there was no display of happiness and the silence of space was just depressing.

Age of Conan -
I have high hopes for this game, I pre-ordered the collectors edition as I think it could do well. The graphics are realistic but they look very nice plus there's bloodshed added to the equation as well. The only thing that concerns me was something I heard in a podcast, they said that they think the game is actually intended for consoles (It's being released on XBOX 360 later this year) as they said the controls don't feel right on PC. I don't think that a console MMORPG could do very well, there would be basically no keyboard communication. No addon support and I just don't think it would work. If Age of Conan was intended for console and if the PC version is neglected then I feel it will be a letdown. Funcom don't seem like such a great company either, they created Anarchy Online which only got about 6.7/10 rating. Actually I recently noticed that they released 2 expansion packs for AO which both got 8.8/10. Maybe they can make decent MMORPGs. With all the development time that's gone into Age of Conan it could be a hit.

Warhammer Online -
Not heard much about this one, I saw a video showing very early in-game graphics and frankly I wasn't impressed. It looked like very bad realistic graphics. I think they need to make more stylized MMORPG's. The game seems to be focused around PvP and I have a BETA key so I'll be testing this one as soon as I can.

It seems that the companies that are developing some of the newer MMORPGs don't have a great track record, Blizzard Entertainment already had Starcraft, and the Warcraft series under their belt when they made World of Warcraft and when a company has hit games you know you can rely on what they're developing. I'm hoping that sometime in the near future a company that makes great games can work on an MMORPG and possibly make one better than World of Warcraft.

I've had recommendations for MMORPG's from many people, some of them I have given my opinion on above yet they never seem to deliver for me. Maybe it's because WoW is the first one I ever played therefore every MMORPG that I play I expect to be just as good as WoW if not better. I kind of wish I'd experienced the earlier era of MMORPG's before WoW (EQ, DAoC, UO etc). Then I might be able to appreciate some of the new ones being released.

WoW is just boring for me nowadays yet I still need my MMORPG fix!! I need a game that can deliver.

I play maple story but on odin which is 8x it is fun, but it takes 3 days to make a account. Also try warrock, driftcity, gunbound, gunz, rappelz, eve is actually really fun try the trial takes a little to get into it, GW is not that fun but it is a good price, COH is boring, Tabula rasa is soooo fun i stoped because my subscription im gona renew it

ALWAYS, I repeat ALWAYS sort by date on youtube. The alpha was terrible, but so was WoW's it has come along way. I suggest everyone to look into.

FlyFF is good control, But everything looks "cute" >_< ...thats like teh only MMORPG i have played that you can compare to WoW

Flyff sucked balls, i got to lvl 102 and stopped, there isn't much to offer at the end aside from that one giant raid, and their servers are too weak to support their 'massive' events.

anyone know anything on chronicles of spellborn or Aion?

Spellborn looks terrible, I had the chance to beta test it but I passed it up. Its not my thing

I also have high hopes for AoC. Guildwars is okay, sort of weird transition from WoW but you seem to have a fair amount of MMO experince. Its interesting due to the way you can take a secondary build, a lot of optimization.

AND TO EVERYBODY! Aion will be the biggest challenger to WoW. Aion has better graphics and ingame cutscenes and controls and fighting look ballin'
