Pre-TBC 1.12 Private server + installing it without deleting retail

First off all download the repack from here

Install it to C:

Now you'll have to the the boring part, installing WoW and patching it to 1.12.
It's easy but when you put you load your CD or down loader etc you wont get a option to install it so you will have to find your current wow folder (the one named World of Warcraft) and rename it to what ever ( WoW or something) you sould then be able to install it.
Once you have installed it run WoW using Launcher.exe and have it patch up to 1.12. When you see the one that says 2.0 STOP the download

If your having problems patching try downloading the patches from[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Once your done go and find the mangos folder.
Open it and find a folder named tools.
Open tools and inside it you will find a file called ''ad''
Find your WoW version 1.12 folder and place ''ad'' inside it
Then make a folder called maps inside the WoW folder.
Run ''ad'' and it will extract the maps to the folder named maps.
This will take some time.

Once the window have closed open maps to see if there is anything inside it. There should be a large number or .map files.

If not try running ad once more if there is everything should be fine.

Place the maps folder into your MANGOS ~Platinum~ folder.
You can now delete ad but you may want to keep it just in case so just put it back into the tools folder.

STARTING THE SERVER
Inside the folder named MANGOS ~Platinum~ there should be a file called ManGOS.
Run the file
A box sould pop up with a few buttons named: Start SQL, Stop SQL, Start Realm and Start MangosDB .
Now close down Skype if you have it running because the SQL won't work with it running. Also make sure to close down mysql if you have it installed.
Once you've done all that press Start SQL. Once a window pops up and goes away a page should come up in your browser called file:///W:/home/admin/WWW/redirect.html

Press the Start Realm button in your ManGOs program
A new window should pop up and stay up.
Then press Start MangosDB.
Again a window should pop up and stay there and it will also load some things for a bit.
You should hear a bib from your computer, then the server is ready (you may not hear it dou)

Your server is now ready!
Do the same things to start the server the next time.

Go to your WoW 1.12 folder and open realmlist.wtf with notepad.
Delete everything inside it and write: set realmlist 127.0.0.1
Then close it and save it.
Open WoW and log in with the password and username administrator to get on a admin account.

You can now play and have fun =D

Hey guys, I've been looking for a good REAL pre TBC priv server. I'm dying to play Vanilla again. Does anyone on here know of any at all? If so you can shoot me a PM. Thanks for any help, this is an awesome guide too, too bad I'm horrible at making privs or I would jump on thisi n a second.

Hm, I get the "unable to validate game version" error when trying to log in. I got the game patched to 1.12, I've done map thingy and I've changed the realmlist! Any idea what's wrong? Here's a picture of the error : [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Oh btw, the the guy who made this repack got the exact same guide inside the repack folder. And with alot more details.

It's probably because you bought the game after, or just before The Burning Crusade expanion was released. I belive all copies of WoW now sold is patched to 2.0. Myself I bought the game back in 2006, so I don't have to deal with this. You'll have to find somewhere to download the "original version" or in some way downgrade from 2.0 to 1.12.
