MEANT FOR EMULATOR SERVERS OR ELSE YOUR EDITS WONT WORK.
Using Freshly extracted 2.4.2 DBC in this guide.
Okay I will show you in this guide how to
A: MAKE A CUSTOM FACTION
B: MAKE A LINKED ITEM SET
FIRST Download the DBC editor Here: ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ])
IMPORTANT: Now this is not for n00bs so if you are one go away it is complicated.
IMPORTANT: This method of DBC editing requires deletion and modification of existing item sets and factions there fore Unlinking or disbanding them.
Now for the item sets
1. Make all the gear you want linked (a maximum of 8 items) Make Sure to write Down Their IDS (I used 900000-900007)
2. now open ItemSet.dbc in DBC Editor
(It Should look Like This) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
3. now find out what item set you want to replace and then proceed.
4. Find Fields 18-25 and change all the values to 0
5. Replace the zeros you added with your item id's you wrote down
6. If you have too many read what i highlighted red and yellow. If you have too few then leave the remaining tables as 0.
7. Last but not least change whatever is in Field 1 to your new Item set name
8. Now if you don't want add set bonuses you are done!! If you do proceed to step 9
9. Now find Fields 35-42 (again a max of 8 bonuses) and in those tables place the spell IDs of the effects you want them to have, then write down what field what bonus is in, then proceed.
10. Now the last step in the process of adding set bonuses choosing when you get each bonus. This part is probably the most confusing at first but gets better after you learn. now using the list you made and the table. in fields 43-50 place a 2, 4, 6, or an 8 (depending on pieces of armor you have) The number you place there is the time when the bonus is received so just as an example if you put in field 35 the spell ID for, +20 Attack Power if you put a 4 in Field 43 then at 4 pieces you would receive +20 Attack power.

KEY: the top number represents the place where you put bonus
and the bottom number represents where you should put the piece wearing requirement.

CUSTOM FACTION!!!!!!!
(WARNING: This will make a Neutral Faction)
1. Open Factions Factions.dbc
(It Should look Like This) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
2.Find the faction under ID 931 because that is the current testing faction for when they design stuff it is amazing because it has no members and has no affiliations. !!!
3. Replace what is in Field 1 with 13, What is in Field 2 with 1791, Field 10 with 200, Field 36 with your new factions Description, and last but not least what is in Fields 35 and 52 with 16712190 if it is not already there.
4. Add the name of your new faction into Field 19
5. You now have a custom faction. To make a NPC a member make their faction ID 931.

Change Emote Text. (Kinda useless but may have implications)
1. Open EmoteTextData.dbc
2. Not Really Much i can say but browse through field 1 and you can change emote texts and have fun.
INCREASE RESTED XP BONUS!!
1. Open Exhaustion.dbc.
2. Find field 2 in then under id 1 should be a 2. this is for how many times more XP you get when rested.
3. Replace this with a 10 or so and rested will be a super XP Earner
Make your General chat channel like General - Cool server instead of general - orgrimmar or something along those lines
1. Open ChatChannels.dbc Go to Field 3 and Where it says General - %s change it to General - (YOUR TXT HERE)
2. Also optionally You can change the values in field 20
Make Custom Tips For When you first start game and are logging in
1. Open GameTips.dbc and find Field 1
2. Find The first Row then You should see this |cffffd100Tip:|r TXT
3. Change the text in field 1 and you have custom tips
EXAMPLE:

Mostly Situational
Change LFG Name of an instance (for instance you redid DM east this guide will show you how to customized LFG Stuff)
1. Open LFGDungeons.dbc
2. Find the row of your remade Dungeon (DM East for example) in field 1
3. Change Field one to your new instances name
4. Change the values in field 18 and 19 to the minimum and maximum levels for your instance respectively ( min in 18 max in 19)
5. Change field 22 to the name of your instance with no spaces
NOTE: this could apply if you made a custom instance in another place you could just remove a less used instance on your server's LFG Channel
then you would follow the steps
Another for fun
Add your own random names to the generator
1. Open NameGen.dbc
2. Edit any of the names in field 1

i am working on a server to test the custom patch thing out.
If it turns out you need one i will try to get a guide up and running ASAP.
For Custom Faction and itemset i dont think you will need a patch.
The thing is for faction the server is asked what faction is the NPC when you mouse over it and for itemset it is asked for set bonuses and the names and shit.
I don't believe any will need a custom patch but if any do i will post a link to my new custom patch guide!!
thanks people. when i was looking for a good way to get outta leecher i realized that there were really no guides on general DBC edits that are widely used and i had really wanted to learn how so i just kinda screwed around in DBC editor until i discovered what fields did what
You will need to make a custom patch-3.MPQ and wow WoWME to use these. But not sure if WoWME will support files in that region. As they only support files in the Data folder, not in the enUS\locale-enUS.MPQ, If you are US. And thus, it would require WoWME to go back to using a config file.

I have no idea why you would need to edit that. for this all you are doing is adding a patch that shows the client what the server says so they are in harmony and you can enjoy a more custom server.
okay sorry i am stupid i did not realize what you meant by wowme. i thought you meant WOW Map Editor. you mean like a model edit fix and i would like too add these are only for emulator servers NOT live people. if you live it it defeats my purpose. it is meant for emulator and i will add that to first post
Hey, if I wanted to like duplicate the Aldor and Scryer Faction, how would I do that? I've tried putting the Fields the same, but it just says that the Factions are "Scryer" and "Aldor" when I .setstanding and whatever. Anybody know how?
