Hello dear MMowners. I got a question
when will wotLK be avaible to private servers?
And how to install it into the private server then =S
Like, log onto normal wow get the patch, put a new ad.exe and get the maps, then download a new database? or what? hehe im a bit n00bish

WotLK will be available as soon as they release a stable version of it, both core and DB.
Then you'd have to recompile a new core, and update your DB.

Actually, you can probably go on a private server when WOTLK comes out, but NOTHING will work. There will be no mobs, no loot, no items. This is because NCDB + other Db's will need a lot of time to make those new files. Also, a stable ascent revision won't be out for at least a month when WOTLK comes out

Nope nothing would work, you wouldn't even be able to login, Also i give it at least 2 months for a (somewhat)feature-rich stable revision

you will be able to login... we had TBC very shortly after release... outlands was only 1-2% spawned and no quests or anything was working yet... all mobs were neutral etc etc...

So yes you will be able to login but as GP said: 99% of stuff will not be working yet... ascent has to update core to support the new map files, spells etc... and NCDB has to update to have the new creatures and all spawned...the database will follow in something like 1-2months core will get better in a few weeks after release...
Note: 3.0.0 has some big changes again in the client etc so probably ascent and ncdb are going to have a hell nice job again :-/
edit: you wont have to wait 1-2months for the DB ofc... you can just keep your DB updated with the svn and you will always have a bit more of the new expansion... but full releases usualy take some time...

You can't login to 2.4.0, since Blizz changed something there. That's the reason for the assumption they'll do this again
