[Glider] How to dual glide on one PC[Guide] - 03-25-2007

-[INTRODUCTION]-
After a few threads on this topic, I have decided to create this guide for anyone wondering how to Glide with two accounts on the same PC. This guide works with the current (1.2.6) release version of Glider which allows Background Mode. It should work the same with the upcoming Glider Elite as well.
-[PC SPECS]-
Before you are thinking about dual gliding, I would suggest making sure your PC can handle it. You don't need a super-fast PC to do it, but if you are running one of those cheapo $399 Celeron's from Best Buy, I wouldn't suggest it.
  • CPU: A dual core PC is optimal, but not necessary. Having dual cores (or multiple CPUs for that matter) would benefit you greatly in this application. Single core CPUs will still be able to handle it fine, depending on its speed.
  • RAM: Obviously more is better, as WoW takes up quite a bit of RAM. On my PC, WoW usually takes around 400-500Mb for each instance of WoW running. I wouldn't recommend dual gliding if you have under 1GB of RAM.
  • Video Card: This is actually pretty flexible. When Glider shrinks the window, it takes up a lot less GPU power, so you don't need the best video card out there. A decent video card is preferred, but even if it isn't quite up to par, you can always set your WoW graphics options to minimum and you should be fine.
Be careful if your PC is borderline, when your fps starts to drop, Glider may miss some spells and your glides might get messed up.
-[GLIDER SETUP]-
I would suggest to start out with a single intallation of Glider that works well for you. Make sure this setup is set to run in background mode with the "Shrink" option enabled. Get background mode working smoothly on this setup before moving on. The only other option in Glider that you want to make sure is ON is the "Install keyboard hook" option on the "Keys" tab. Once you have this set and Background Mode working, you can go on to the next step.

Next, take this Glider installation folder, make a copy of it, and rename it something similair. For example, all my games are installed in the "C:\Games" folder on my PC, so in this example, you should have 2 folders:

C:\Games\WoWGlider
and
C:\Games\WoWGlider2

Both of these folders should be exactly the same except for the name.

From here, you should create shortcuts on your desktop (or wherever) to each Launchpad in these folders. So, on your desktop you should have two shortcuts, mine are named WoWGlider and WoWGlider2. Next, right click on each shortcut and click Properties. In the "Target" textbox for each shortcut, you need to add /quickstart and /noclean after the shortcut. It should now read:

C:\Games\WoWGlider\Launchpad.exe /quickstart /noclean
and
C:\Games\WoWGlider2\Launchpad.exe /quickstart /noclean

Note the switches on the end of the shortcut. These tell Glider to bypass the Launchpad screen and to not check to see if Glider is already running.
-[WoW SETUP]-
Next, go into your WoW video options. Set it to "Windowed Mode" and make sure "Maximized" is unchecked. This is so when Glider shrinks then WoW window, you can move it around to allow you to see both windows at once.
-[GLIDING]-
You are now set up to dual glide. WoW should start when you open the first Launchpad shortcut. Get to your glide point and start gliding. Glider should shrink the window after a few seconds. Then you can open the second Launchpad shortcut. If you did everything right, a second WoW instance should open. Log into your next account, get to your glide spot and start gliding. Glider will shrink the window after a few seconds. This window will probably cover your first window, but you can move it out of the way if you set the video options correctly in the WoW Settings.

And you are done! You can do this for a third account if you have one and if your PC can handle it. I am currently gliding three accounts on my PC:

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/8870/3glidesfm0.jpg

I have a Core 2 Duo E6600 with 2GB RAM and a Geforce 7950 GT OC 256MB. Each WoW instance gets about 40fps+ typically and I only lag out when my wireless connection craps out. Anyone with an average PC should be able to dual glide, but I wouldn't suggest gliding three accounts on the same PC unless you have a real beefy PC. My PC could probably handle four, but I don't want to push it (plus I don't have a fourth account!).

Nice guide.
Do you need a seperate glider key for each account you're gliding? You do, right?

Try using 1.26 instead of 1.28. I was having similiar problems and therefore I'm using 1.26. I just bought it a few days ago also. The site said the 1.26 is still safe for now so :P
