Wow Guides Easy Guide to making your server live. With sceenshots. - 11-24-2007

Ok before i start, credit for some of the info in this guide goes out too "JulianX", "Absolute Zero" and "Illidan_000" im just putting it all together to make it easy for you guys, because i can see alot of people are having trouble.

<<<<Hamachi Guide>>>>

First you need to download Hamachi, that can be found at: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Once that has downloaded and you have installed it onto your computer, Open it up.

when you first install Hamachi it will have a Quick Setup guide to it, you can either follow that or just close it by pressing the little cross in the corner of the wizard.

Once you have either closed it or followed it, press the little button on the right hand side of Hamachi that looks like a weird triangle, that should bring up another menu.

If you have a look at the screen shots i have posted Here You can see how it is done.

Once you have set up your hamachi we can get onto your config!.

First of all open up your Logonserver.config file, should be located in your repack folder.

Once that is open look for

Code:
# Host Directive
#
# This is the address that the realmlist will listen on.
# To listen on all addresses, set it to 0.0.0.0
# Default: 127.0.0.1 (localhost)
#
# Note: ISHost is the interserver communication listener.
#
<Listen Host = "0.0.0.0" Change Both the listen host and ISHost to your hamachi ip
ISHost = "0.0.0.0"
RealmListPort = "3724"
ServerPort = "8093">

Save that and exit.

Now for your Realms.config, Open that one up

and look for
Code:
<LogonServer Address = "127.0.0.1" Make the logonserver address ur hamachi IP
Port = "8093"
Name = "Default Logon"
RealmCount = "1">

Keep looking down the page untill you can see
Code:
<Realm1 Name = "test realm" Name of your realm.
Address = "127.0.0.1:8129" Change The "127.0.0.1" to your hamachi IP address DO NOT CHANGE THE PORT
Icon = "PVP"
Colour = "1"
Population = "1.0"
TimeZone = "1">
Save and exit your realms.config.

Now Open up your ascent.config, there is only one thing we need to change in here and that is the listen host.

so scroll down the screen untill you can find

<Listen Host = "127.0.0.1" Change the listen host to your hamachi IP
WorldServerPort = "8129"

Save and exit.

Now if your friends want to connect just tell them the name of your hamachi and the password (if you made one) and they will have to set their realmlist to OUR IP address given to you by hamachi.

Ok NON Hamchi Guide.....

First there are a few things you need to download/ sign up for!

You need .Net Framework if you don't have download it from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

One you have that we can go right onto the next step!

First you need to go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and signup for an account

Second Login and go to "Services" and click on Dynamic DNS.

Third
Click on "Get Started" fill out those fields and make sure "Wildcard" is checked and then click on "Create Host"

Your done here for now. but dont close that window yet!

Now go Start

Then Run.

Then type Type C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\

and that should open up a folder with a few files in it. Double click on "hosts.file"

and open it up with notepad/wordpad.

Now in there you should see alot of writing. Go down to the bottom and you should see 127.0.0.1 (localhost)

Replace all that with

Code:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

127.0.0.1 XXXXXX Your Dyndns host name (like mine was reignofchaos.servegame.org)
Your internal IP (and again your dyndns hostname)
Your external IP (once again your dyndns hostname)
Change every thing in pink to the right IPs/hostnames

To find your internal IP adress go to Start, Run, and type in "cmd" then it should open a little black box on your screen. now type in "ipconfig" and it should display some information now the one you want is

Code:
Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

        Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : bbnet.com.au
        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : xxxxx (your IP should be here.
        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.252.0
        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : xxxxx

Now to get your external IP address go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

and it should display it right infront of you in big blue letters.

Now to edit your config Files.

Open up for Realms.config

and you should see

Code:
<LogonServer Address = "127.0.0.1" Change this to your DynDNS hostname
Port = "8093"
Name = "Default Logon"
RealmCount = "1">
And change the Realmcount = "1"> to a "2"

then scroll down the screen some more. and find

Code:
<Realm1 Name = "YOUR REALM NAME"
Address = "YOUR EXTERNAL IP:8129"
Icon = "PVP"
Colour = "1"
Population = "0"
TimeZone = "1">
now change that all too.

Code:
<Realm1 Name = "YOUR REALM NAME"
Address = "YOUR EXTERNAL IP:8129"
Icon = "PVP"
Colour = "1"
Population = "0"
TimeZone = "1">

<Realm2 Name = "YOUR REALM NAME - Local"
Address = "YOUR INTERNAL IP:8129"
Icon = "PVP"
Colour = "1"
Population = "0"
TimeZone = "1">

Save and exit that.

now open up your Logonserver.config file and find

Code:
# Host Directive
#
# This is the address that the realmlist will listen on.
# To listen on all addresses, set it to 0.0.0.0
# Default: 127.0.0.1 (localhost)
#
# Note: ISHost is the interserver communication listener.
#
<Listen Host = "0.0.0.0" Change this to your DynDNS Hostname.
ISHost = "0.0.0.0"
RealmListPort = "3724"
ServerPort = "8093">
Now Open up for ascent.config

and look for

Code:
<Listen Host = "127.0.0.1" Change that to your dyndns hostname.
WorldServerPort = "8129"
Now to Do some port forwarding.

This is the hardest part of the guide so make sure you follow it word for word.

Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

and find your router.

on there it will tell you how to port forward.

The ports you need to forward are:

Code:
3036
3724
6881-6999
8129
2093
6112
8050
8245
3306
80
Like i said on that site it will tell you how to do it.

In the end of you forwarding it should look some thing like this:

Code:
3036 3036 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
3724 3724 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
6881 6999 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
8129 8129 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
2093 2093 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
6112 6112 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
8050 8050 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
8245 8245 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
3306 3306 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
80 80 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
Save it.

Now you need to allow dyndns to connect into your router.

Do this by finding a page where you can allow sites such as dyndns to access it.

It shouldnt be too hard to find.

Now if you are still having problems, PLEASE post your Realms.config/Ascent.config and your logonserver.config files and wrap them into the code text by selecting the text and pressing the "#" button at the top of the forums.

Thanks for reading and thanks to JulianX Absolute Zero and Illidan_000

Ok. I'm using hamachi, and I can connect, but my friends can't! They say that they either get stuck at "connecting" or receive the "unable to connect to server" message.

#   Default:
#      MapPath = "maps"
#      UnloadMaps = 1
#

MapPath = "maps"

# LogonServer[x].Port = The port on which the logon server listens.

LogonServer1.Port    = 8093
LogonServer1.Name    = "Default Logon"

This might actually work, all the other guides never told you about what you do with your listen hosts and your logon server address and etc, i will proably try this tommorow, if I could, Even though ive tried a hundred different guides this on might actually work though i would need to turn of my AVG firewall off first or something, maybe that is the only problem im always having
