i did everything right but i am getting the config errors like some other people could it be because i forgot to load maps into the repack?

Hey man here is what i did cause i had the same errors for couple of times ...
i downloaded the second ascent repack that romuville put up just couple of days ago ....

i have created the folder into c: and put everything there ... i just modified the config files ... all 3 ... and then i have created the world with the batch file ... and after i have rebooted the computer after all the changes and the database were created

after reboot i just restarted the navicat and start the connection and then i run the 2 files ... \

the way that i did it i started first the ascent-logon file and i waited untill was all up and after that i started the world file and sync with the firs file .... i just changed the realmlist on the client and it worked

i had a couple of problems because there is still something unstable because after the first connection to the game second time it was only loading untill the retrieve character list and stayed blocked there .... but playing with it on and off it start working

i even created couple of accounts and was able to connect with them in the game ... from only one pc ...

........and now i can even play it on my LAN cause i figured it out how to set tup the logonserver and realm config files for my LAN (basically to replace the 127.0.0.1 loopback address with the one that i have on my NIC connection for the LAN)


SO ... I can hardly wait to lerarn how to modify everything else in the server .... )))))

did you create the "root" service in mysql ? plus that i hope that the service it's running ... but ill get to that later.

try to delete that connection and create a new one with a different name and check to see if the port number is 3306, then make sure the the service name matches the one that you created in mysql (ex. root - as it was specified in the walkthrough) and the password is the same everywhere in the new service and the config files and the navicat connection.


if still have problems go to start and run (if running XP) type services.msc and look in that list and check if "root" service is "started". I had similar problem and i wasnt able to start root service so i had to go to mysql and remove the service and create it again. i made sure all the passwords are matching and created the connection and it worked when i tested it

it;s good to restart the pc and start the navicat from the point that you had the problem too ... hope you will fix it

Just wondering. I dont have a password set for yog/navicat.
I see how you said to enter your password in the conf. But I DO NOT have one.
So i left it "" and still get failures to connect. Could someone just explain a little for me?

what errors do you get ? i would suggest to try with a pass ... some stuff they don't work unless they are able to authenticate securely .... but i don't know in this case ...

I'm thinking that working with internet database it requires a certain level of security ... so just give it a try ... plus that i have noticed that in the repack that Romuville posted under Tools you find everything you need to work the server .. which is really cool.

ok ive gone though the entire instalation with no problems and when i go to load the loggon server it says the aplication has failed to start becuase the application configuration is incorrect What should i do

did you try to restart the pc ?
OHHHH .. and one more thing ... try to install .NET Framework3.5 .... its in the repack .... i would suggest to give it a try .... that might solve the problems to many of you and hope that the config files are as deriko described to do them.



DERIKO ... do you know where i could find either program to modify my NPC and where can i find more info about how to modify the accounts and the characters .. i mean the attributes of my characters ... if you know please do tell ..

Florinel76, no modify npcs try ascent database editor that should make new items and npcs and weather a whole lot easyer, and dont understand accounts and charcaters be more specific, could you me XD
