WoW: WoTLK. Awarded Fastest Selling Game of All Time!

As most of us have predicted. This monster of an expansion has fulfilled its duties and sold over 2.8 MILLION copies on its first day! Making WotLK the fastest selling PC game of all time! This is surely a record Blizzard Entertainment should be proud of. The previous record being held by Blizzard's expansion, The Burning Crusade.

The day of this world changing release, the game was shipped to 5 countries. North America, Europe, Chile, Argentina, and Russia on November 13. THe following day Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand released their version. South Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on November 18 finished up the release.

Thousands of game stores participated in the release of the game. Over 15,000 stores had their doors open on midnight and some were accomponied by blizzard employees to sign copies and get to know their players.

"After a single day of availability, Wrath of the Lich King is already the bestselling PC game of 2008 at GameStop and ranks as one of our top-selling products so far this year," said Bob McKenzie, GameStop's senior vice president of merchandising. "In keeping with the tradition established by their previous releases, Blizzard Entertainment has again created a product that not only reflects their high standards of quality but is clearly an instant hit with gamers around the country."
