At BlizzCon 2008, SteelSeries unveiled the first-ever World of Warcraft Massively Multiplayer Online Gaming Mouse, co-designed with Blizzard Entertainment.
The mouse has :
- advanced macro creation capabilities,
- 15 programmable buttons,
- six possible DPI settings
- 16 million profile-specific illumination colors,
The MMO Gaming Mouse goes beyond the usual mouse design to create a new type of in-game controller.
"Our concepts and designs cater to the global community of MMO players and for the first time, World of Warcraft players have a new type of gaming accessory that was created specifically for them,".Through our recent acquisition of Ideazon and the wealth of creativity that the team brought to the table, it was a natural next step that we work with Blizzard Entertainment to create new products that help enhance players' World of Warcraft experience."
(said Bruce Hawver, CEO of SteelSeries. )
The Mouse's interface is designed to be familiar to World of Warcraft players, with a look similar to the game's interface.Using drag and drop software, players can program all 15 buttons with over 130 in-game WoW commands. There are up to 10 different profiles with more than 16 million color choices.
The mouse has following features:
- 15 programmable buttons plus scroll wheel that includes:
- 4 way D pad on left side
- 2 way button on each side
- Custom macro creation
- Real-time profile switching
- Import and export profile capability
- 6 CPI settings at 800, 1200, 1600, 2000, 2400 and 3200
- 3 possible polling rate settings of 250, 500 or 1000 Hz
- Independent X/Y axis sensitivity settings
- 2.5 millimeter lift distance
"One of our design philosophies for World of Warcraft has always been to give players a high degree of freedom in customizing their experience,".The World of Warcraft MMO Gaming Mouse extends that principle by putting a wide range of new control options in players' hands."
(said Paul Sams, COO of Blizzard Entertainment.)
The mouse will be available in late Q4 and will be sold for 99,99$ on the following sites. :
They just keep rackin in money on stuff like this. Soon if you want to be pro in arena you'll need this to get an edge. Soon there will be keyboards and other things just like this to give you that "edge", great!
eww.. they'll brand and sell anything these days.. that mouse doesnt cost more than $10 to assemble in a chinese factory.. the ergonomics look obsolete.. the macros.. and cross compatibility (with drivers) are probably horrendous.. and its wired.. $99.99 is overpriced for the other gaming mice on the market.. this would be my personal last choice.
Think I might buy this.... my G5 is getting old now and my Trust Predator is just crap...
I might only buy it cuz of the looks
I've got a G5, and it is frikin' awesome. you don't need to upgrade it lool.

It looks a bit though as if some buttons are quite hard to get your fingers to

It ain't cheap compared to pretty much anything.
But this one has World of Warcraft written on it!
I didn't know about those other mouses though, I have a cheap €5 mouse and I'm satishfied with it. Some friends of mine have a €80 Mac mouse though (forgot the name) so compared with that this one is pretty cheap for the amount of buttons and the design and stuff
