I tried this out several times, and it didn't seem to work (Fri, Aug 15, 5PM EST).

The other person recieved the gems, but they didnt get socketed in my weapons

Did you even Insert the Gem and Press the Insert Gem button?

this still works...tried it today. Also, anyone know if there is a way for them to track this or only if they actually see you doing it? Its a nice trick but if it is something they are tracking and can check on without seeing you actually do it then its not worth losing the account.

Maybe I misunderstood your instructions..

I had several combinations of green and blue value gems and armor/weapons and I found someone to test with. Obviously, blue gems cant fit into green items, and gems can only go into either weapons or armor, specifically.

1. opened trade with helper.
2. dragged gem into item (to socket)
3. Clicked OK for the socketing prompt to start
4. while the cast bar was running, I dropped the gem into the trade window
5. Both my helper and myself accepted the trade

Every time, I ended up with an ungemmed item, and my helper received the gem.

Edit: Nevermind, I tried this on an afk player and it works perfect. Thanks!

4. While the gem is getting into the item (Casting : Creating item) drag the gem into the window
5. Wait for it to finish
6. Accept trade

I tried the same process with gemcutting, unfortunately that didn't work. It would be nice to have infinite flawless gems to cut as well >.>

has anyone tried this with resources while crafting the building components like frames or slabs for example?

Well you need to be able to trade the item you are putting the gem in (or frame or whatef) and you cannot really trade walls... So I doubt it

you don't need to trade the item you are putting the gem in, all you need to put in the trade window is the gem. And i'm talking about the components that are made with basalt, oak, etc so wondering if putting the resources in the trade window while crafting works

If you have a character with that profession, find an afk player and try it out. Personally, I have tried to cut a gem, then put the base gem into the trade window. I recieved an error message saying that I didnt have enough resources to complete.
